Trouble in the Vale IV (27/09/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
We have extensive information gathered in this ‘Council of Six'. All active patrol members going on missions in the affected
area should make themselves familiar with the intelligence notice that follows. Wisdom and knowing your enemy as far more
important than how well you wield a sword, I know this from personal experience.

The council seems to consist of a selection of very powerful individuals. Some used to be serving barony citizens, whilst
others have been wanted for crimes against the barony for many years. The council's strength is in its diversity. It has been
discovered that the original plan was to set up a group of members so diverse that all areas of power, magical or miraculous,
would be covered. The area, known as the Vale of Wigglebottom is the perfect staging area for their rebellion, as the area
grows very peculiar herbs which, prepared correctly, have very potent healing properties. This would supplement the council's
lack of life healing. The potions seem to lose their healing powers quickly, and attempts to replant them elsewhere have
historically failed.

The council originally consisted of six members - priests of might, death, and anarchy; a dark druid; a necromancer; and a
demonologist. It has come to our attention that the anarchy priest's beliefs did not coincide with the somewhat ordered
structure of the council, and it is believed that he has been killed. Another member of the council has also been killed by
a barony patrol member, and despite boasts by the council that he has been resurrected, this is thought to be highly unlikely
as raising of the dead is a very powerful ability restricted to the powers of life, the one weakness in the councils
diversity.

The Council consists/consisted of:

Zentarim, a very powerful priest of might. Originally temple aligned, his somewhat fascist views were not tolerated even by
his temple. He wished might to be the controlling path of the barony, all other temples to be subservient, he was forced to
leave the temple when he attempted a demonstration of might by torturing three temple aligned freedom priests to death. He
escaped trial as he disappeared shortly afterward and has been unseen since. It is believed that he initiated the council.
The temple of might has records of tutoring Zentarim in high levels of Fear, Harden, and Drain Life. He is a known wounds
healer, and knows miracles to resist the powers of chaos. Zentarim was also known as an expert fighter, and was infamous for
tormenting new recruits to the gladiators by beating them in combat without using any magical or miraculous powers. For
services rendered to the temple, he was granted superior plate armour and a superior mace, which it is believed he still
possesses. The temple of might demands their return regardless of who kills him.

Exodus was a college air mage and good friend of Zentarim. He disappeared the same day as Zentarim, but had not broken any
barony laws. It is reported that he turned to dark druidism after he left the college, and has since been killed by a barony
patrol in the Vale.

Little is known about the San twins. One is a death priest, possibly temple aligned, and the other is a necromancer. It is
believed that the necromancer twin is subservient to the death priest, who controls the hoards of undead they create. Great
caution should be taken when engaging these two, as they most likely make a very potent enemy with their powers combined.

Zig, the temple aligned anarchy priest was wanted for a variety of crimes against the barony. He joined the six to cause more
trouble, but ended up causing more trouble within the council than for it, and is now dead.

Belhifet is the council's demonologist. He is reported to have a book containing the names and descriptions of hundreds of
demons. The book is near-legendary and must be retrieved at all costs. Using this book, he summons demons to do his bidding,
and others just to rip their powers from them and gain the powers himself. As such, he has effective access to all schools of
magic, available for use at his whim. He is a very dangerous individual and great caution must be given if faced by him.

Request patrol members for a mission into the Vale of Wigglebottom. The 'council' will be too powerful to deal with at once,
but plans have been made to make a large dent in their control over the area.

Debrief:
With the fall of the death priest and the necromancer in the council, and the disappearance of the now vampire member, as
well as a large portion of their followers the remaining two, Belhifet and Zhentarim have fled the Vale. Unfortunately before
they left they ordered the few followers they had left to slat the earth and burn everything to the ground. Luckily you
managed to remove all the Villagers, so with a successful resettlement, they shall recover from their ordeal. The Vale
however is unsalvageable.

Trouble in the Vale III (07/09/2003)

Brief:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hear Ye Hear Ye!

Reports that the Vale of Wigglebottom is no longer under the Baron's Control!

Rogue Forces in the area ceased the Vale nay on 6 hours ago.

Guards in the area forced out by superior numbers.

Updates to follow!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hear Ye Hear Ye!

Vale of Wigglebottom still not retaken.

Forces in the area supplimented by Demons, Undead, Spellcraft, and Powers Miraclulous in nature.

Baron refuses to comment, and the Guards will not issue a formal statement.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Debrief:
The information found on your mission was most helpful. It would have been easier if you hadn't tried to take on the council
members or their guards, but self-defence always comes ahead of such concepts. It would seem that the order aligned orcs are
not willing to revolt against the council, but have agreed to keep the peace once they are removed.

Borderlands: Across the Border (29/08/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Patrol members available to report to Major Darius and/or Captain Polysee at the Borderlands Southern Outpost. From there,
you will escort a diplomat and his bodyguards to meet with resistance leaders on the other side of the Borderlands. One of
their leaders, Sparticus, has been captured, and you will be assiting in his rescue.

That is all.

Captain Ploysee, aide to Major Darius.

Debrief:
The Borderlands effect has diminished according to the College researchers. The Might aligned forces threatening to invade
have been pushed back and the resistance movement led by Sparticus are pressing their advantage.

Report to Major Darius from Captain Polisee

Sir,

I am happy to report that the rift between our Barony and that of the Evil Dictator has been sealed with the demise of the
necromancer known as Torrent.

The party performed admirably, and I wish to make a special commendation of Guardsman Gobshite. He carried out his duties in
a most inspiring fashion, and I am sure that were it not for him, there would have been many more casualties on our side.

As it is, I am sorry to report the disappearence of High Master Vortex of the Temple of Might. According to reports, he was
last seen engaged in combat with a most foul undead zombie known as "Imhotep".

The Barony strike team was forced to abandon their search for High Master Vortex when the gateway between our world and that
of the hostiles collapsed. I would be greatful if you could convey my regrets for his loss also to Grand Humact Buffy and to
any family he might have left behind.

There was a noticable absence of men in funny turbans with suspicious beards, which leads me to conclude that the Might Baron
and his look-alikes have learnt to fear the power of our forces and therefore did not seek to engage our troops. That will
teach them to try going after *our* land and resources!

While awaiting further instructions, I have taken up post in the barony outpost closest to the border.

Margaret Polisee
Guard Captain

Trouble in the Vale II (24/08/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Greetings, Your unique services are required by the Pathfinder Special Division this Sunday. Speak to no-one about this
message. Please report outside the Pathfinders College.

Pathfinder Captain Mekrath, Pathfinder Special Division

Debrief:
The Pathfinder Special Department would like to thank both participants in their completion of a dangerous and difficult
mission. The information gathered on the "Council of Six" is most intriguing and must be looked into further. We were a bit
disappointed that you blew your cover at the end and tried to take on one of these council members, as they now know that we
know, but if you had been promoted to a position of authority within the organization then it would have been hard to leave
without provoking suspicion anyway. We will no doubt need your assistance again in the future for a mission to disband this
so-called "council", and pending your availability for the mission, you will no doubt both be requested.

The Rules (17/08/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
The patrol are sent out to retrieve a new set of laws for possible introduction into the Barony, in order to bring a new era
of peace to the land. The rules are being written by a very respected member of the Temple of Order, Judge Ploughmans, who
left the Temple many years ago in order to devote his life to writing these rules.

Debrief:
Unfortunately the rules had to be destroyed, as a strange figure known only as 'The Twinkster' who claimed to be an ex-animal
druid, ex-order priest, ex-gladiator had intercepted the rules and would use them to become even more powerful! The destruction
of the rules caused him to dissapate, though it is still not known if he was truly destroyed!

Trouble in the Vale I (03/08/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Can any active patrol Members please report to the Temple of Justice as soon as possible for a mission of mercy to the Vale
of Wigglesworth. Locals in the area have been reporting an invasion of demons and undead in the area, as well as the presence
of Drow...

Marshal Malavon
Temple of Justice

With the existence of the unnatural graveyard reported, a large band of humacts were sent to its location. The Death Priest
reported to be resident was still there, and on being told that the party were Humacts, he looked rather annoyed but ordered
all the undead into a line to be killed. The Humacts then proceeded to destroy and consecrate all the bodies, and established
that the graveyard had been cursed by the temple of death, and it can only be assumed they had larger plans for such a place,
although they will not have the chance now - the Humacts undid their unholy blessing. The Death priest had been cleared of
any crimes and is not believed to be in league with the temple of Death in any way. One Humact is reported to have said to
him "If only all Followers of Death were as nice as you, I'd be a happy happy Humact!"

The rise of bandit activity in the vale is also being looked into. We may need your assistance with this in the future.

Lastly, reports of these unusual demons are strange indeed. An further information gathered on them should be reported ASAP.

Additional from the college of air:
We thank all participants of our teleportation experiment for their feedback. We will continue to improve our long range
magics and will be happy to provide similar services with fewer repercussions in the future...

1) Thanks everyone. That was a really good larp it ended perfectly and everything went as I had hoped. I especially like the
way you dealt with the troll and the golems and the intelligent IC interparty discussions. The standard of the monsters was
also excellent. If only all my larps were that good. Great standard of roleplaying even if I had to bully you into it when
lighting the fire on the troll. Scarily enough though was the party actually working as a cohesive team and did really well
because of it (except when fighting the druid of course). It wasn't supposed to actually be team building. You made Major
Darius right, bad people no buiscuits :-).

What you want me do?

Sniffer
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Private memo to Overcaptain Vareen,

Sir, I am afraid to report that Sniffer has completed his search of the Southern Caves is Section 4C and he has no further
clues.

I understand the importance that you have placed on this task, and i am as loathe to accept the loss of such a valued member
of the barony, but you have to face facts. Kailyn is a lost cause.

His loss is tragic but there are others that require our assistance, please grant me leave to return my command to the
barony, from the few reports and rumours that i have been receiving, the borderlands are still of great concern and the
citizens of the barony will surely benefit from the support, and protection that my men would provide.

With grave concern,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Private memo to Lieutenant-Major Arkteer,

As you can see from Michael's report (Guard Captain Fulcram's memo attatched), the search for Kailyn is not producing any
results. I regret that i must concur with his stance on this matter.

Whatever we tell Michael, I see no way to report Kailyn's loss to Dryak or Kestrel and i think that we are going to be hard
pressed in out dealing's with Hunter, Thorfen, Li, and Alquadiris.

Your orders Sir?

Over-Captain Vareen
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Private journal of Grand Seer Annias,

Lieutenant-Major Arkteer has informed me that the search for Kailyn has still not produced any results. I can not sit here
and do nothing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Private Journal of Grand Seer Annias,

Work is progressing slowly but i think i am getting somewhere. I know they have the answers I seek.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Debrief:
Lieutenant Major Vareen has passed on news of what Transpired on your mission. It is good to hear that Kailyn Trueshot was
freed from his captors, and that he has now made a full recovery. Again I have been most impressed by the bravery and
competency of your effort. It is heartening for a tiring man such as I to see such greatness developing in the ranks of the
barony and equally from trusted allies from the highlands, the druid groves and the Sanctum. I hope to hear more of you in
the future.

Returning to the matter of your mission, it would appear that the base in Draxia was infiltrated by one of these Draconians,
who succeeded in masquerading as Annias and tricking the McFeegle witchdoctor into transporting you to their lands. The
appearance of this species is clearly of concern; in this incident they appeared to be working solely as mercenaries, however
without knowing what form their payment for the capture of the brothers was to be, any underlying motivations of this race
remains unknown. Searches of our bases and outposts have so far uncovered no further infiltrators as yet. To our great loss
there has also been no sign of Annias, and I have also recently learnt that Sniffer, a renowned Orc Findsman attached to
Vareen's command is also missing.

On a more positive note the Drokken in Draxia appear to have calmed down considerably; perhaps their recent agitation was a
result of protectiveness to their hatchlings and the disturbances in the area. Following recommendations from Hunter and
Samuel we are investigating the possibility of training these creature for warfare.

Additionally the potential threat of Landreaver has finally been lifted, however what causes it to start ticking when it did,
or even what effect it would have had will remain a mystery. I have sent an envoy to the fire elemental Scotchio to clarify
our good intentions and tried to pass our thanks to the Ancient Babbumba who directed you to him, unfortunately she has
passed away.

Representatives of the Shadow King have also dropped on the Draxia camp to "Thank you all very much" for your assistance in
dealing with Ny'darch. As promised they have returned the portal to its original setting and are currently investigating if
there are any other portals in the cultists network. With Ny'darch banished again and the soul orbs and soul sword once again
secured, it should be quite some time before we are troubled by him again.

PeterW [Aurelius] 74
- (+2) As the only mage in the party, you had an important role to play in the party, which you filled nicely. In particular
your timely use of spell immunities to protect the party from the more powerful demons and your brave use of sleep to save
Kailyn's life at the cost of your own.

StephenE [Lomax] 74
- (+2) For a comparatively weaker party member Lomax held himself well, his report was also well written and thorough.
Enthusiastically accepted the challenge presented by Ms Presley. Although not your desired effect the events following your
attempt to take out the weedy demonologist were hilarious. Getting your broken arm re-set by Jim was also stunning.

PeterO [Tarrack] 73
- (+1) Somehow I always seem to miss seeing THE priest of might. However, my spies report that Tarrack once again stood out
for his unflinching position with regards to receiving/giving miracles and attitude to other party members.

AlexT [Dryak] 73
- (+1) Continued role-play of your relationship with Kailyn and Dryak was as always a joy to watch. The fact that you were
forced to work with the Soul Cultists' last time out and that this time out, you found that they seemed to be behind your
brother's capture from the start was nicely demonstrated in your role-playing.

DavidS [Carabas] 73
- (+1) Carabas showed the flexibility of a freedom priest, acting as a support fighter and scout for much of the LARP, and
was instrumental in beating the soul demons at their own games. In particular the targeted use of curses in the final
battle and his own use of shrivel stopping the first demon wave from completely decimating the party and buying much needed
time to work out a defensive strategy.

MatthewA [MadJim] 73
- (+1) Solid performance from the barbarian and a great in character report. Shame about the Kestrel incident really... the
slow charge at the Draconians as they flashed and froze you was also amusing.

IanH [Hunter] 72
- Even though I knew it was going to happen, taming and attempting to train the baby Drokken was still very funny. Cheers for
the post game feedback. Your conversations with Samuel and Mara with regards to training Drokken as war mounts were great
fun. With Annias missing in action, maybe Hunter could be persuaded to work as an advisor to Vareen and co.

WarrenJ [Mathonwy] 72
- Despite a strong outing, with excellent swordplay and wise use of miracles, nothing particular stood out this time out.

NeilH [Talon] 72
- In a party bereft of a standard battle line of fighters, Talon showed his ability to hold up in battle well.

LudwigK [Samuel] 72
- The walking tank (in the same armour as Ny'darch was!) kept his curious outlook on the adventure in a way that only LudwigK
is capable of. Your concern with regards to the Drokken, Landreaver, and the newly discovered race was well thought out. If
he had the chance I'm sure that Arkteer and Vareen would look to recruit you for their staff too.

GavinL [Aramis] 72
- Respect for wearing that helmet for so long. I greatly enjoyed the look of confusion on my (Demon's) face when I got past
your staff only to be hit repeatedly with power damage from your little pigsticker. It had been quite some time since I had
last seen Aramis in action, I hope you didn't get too lost by the background plot.

TonyC [Caffrey] 72
- Despite the lack of undead, which Caffrey generally enjoys smiting with impunity, solid stick work and his typical (and in
my opinion rather unorthodox) attitude to adventuring is always well received. It was also rather odd seeing Caffrey and
Aramis fighting together, for some bizarre reason they never seemed to be sent out at the same time!

CarinaS [Kestrel] 48
        [Mara] 25
- (+1) Kestrel certainly did not have an easy time of it, considering the number of other priests around and their various
expertises, an exceptionally unfortunate death at the hands of an overeager barbarian, and another death in a daring rescue
attempt and then Mara came in and blew her opposition to pieces. As usual Mara suffered from the unfortunate difficulties
of hearing range attacks whilst wearing a mask and being battered by 10 odd players. The contrasting personalities and
attitudes of Kestrel and Mara was also good to watch.

MikeT [Kailyn] 37 (monster/player)
- (+1) Excellent role-play of your messed up state of mind after being rescued, and the subsequent interactions with Dryak
  and Kestrel.

1) Again well done everyone for the high standard of combat, particularly with regards to safety. The experience of all of
the players, and particularly the quality of role-playing and consistency of characters was also as high as I expected
considering the experience of all of the players. I would say that the hideous amounts of standing, extends and items made
things rather easy but then I remembered that there were still 4 deaths.

The Dungeon (13/07/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
The Temple of Humact requests formal help from any patrol members on a mission of most importance.

Archaeologists have recently uncovered what seems to be an ancient tomb in the barony Capital. The tomb was found under a
large mansion belonging to a wealthy family that have long followed the traditions of Humact himself. It surprised us greatly
then, when from this tomb came hoards of undead! The escaping abominations were slain, but no-one has yet entered the tomb
itself.

We are asking brave members of the barony defence patrols to enter this tomb and rid the tomb of all undead, and hopefully
uncover the mystery behind this tomb.

Yours Gratefully,

Humactus Incentre

Debrief:
The Temple of Humact thank all those who attended for their assistance, although they would have preferred that you hadnt
taken their clerk down there to settle the dispute. They also apologize for not giving a more clear brief of who was in
charge and what was to be done with any items found.

The book that was found has been confirmed as a long lost unholy tome once belonging to the Temple of Death. It has been
handed to the Temple of Might and then Freedom so they may read the contents, and it contains many Death Ceromonies of
intermediate to high power, and now resides within the Temple of Life for safekeeping, They requested that such an unholy
book must never be used, and offered to take the measures required to prevent this.

1) Sorry the game lacked variety, but there is little else but undead you would find in a dungeon really. Also, the large
amount of description needed was admittedly not good. Suffice to say that an entire larp set in a dungeon - when there isn't
one to use, doesn't work - I'll not do that again. One thing I have learnt about writing larps though, and I will try to keep
to from now on - Keep It Simple Stupid...

Borderlands: Spores (06/07/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
*There has been a lull on the Borderlands front. Concerned that little action has been taken over the last year in many
areas, other than the standard patrols, a request was sent out to the Barony Guilds for things that would have been
investigated in the usual run of things. To clean house, before decisive action is taken as regards to the Borderlands. The
following from the college catches your eye, partly because it is the least stale of the odd occurences that manpower has
been requested for...*

The College of Magic has recently suffered a loss to its Countermeasures Department, of both an Extraplanar expert and many
of her experiments. The late wizard had made significant progress in her earlier years in the use of Spell Prime magics,
having extrapolated many uses and researched deeper into that discipline than any have for some time. Due to this fact, we
believe many of her experiments may be dangerous.

We have a copy of her notes which appear largely inscrutable, which will be supplied to the first force willing to locate,
disable, or contain the effects of the experiments to report to the Countermeasures Department north of the capital.

We should have more information for you there.

Debrief:
Our gratitude to you for doing what you could. The numbers you accounted for does not quite tally with the quantity
supposedly stolen, but our experts agree that you seemed to have dealt with the important ones. As far as the perpetrators
go, we have just recieved information that we are diseminating from a renegade Balance priest. We will relay the information
once we have sifted through it, and see if the incident will need following up on.

On a side note, the fledgling demon hunting organisation may be interested in anything you can contribute to their research.

Please be discreet about our work, and remember that we owe you all a favour.

1) First, thanks for people for being guinea pigs, in both the format and style of the larp, and against the monsters. Yes,
it did not go perfectly- I should have kept in the other 'treasure hunters' to up the combat, and I should have left more
'prints'. However, I think most of the ideas were good (and from people's feedback, you agree) but implementation was iffy.
Ah, well... could have something to do with moving house and not going to bed before 3 all week.

2) Secondly, thanks to Spoon for the tracking idea. While I don't think I'll ever use it to that extent again, it is
certainly a tool that can be used to make a larp more interesting.

Borderlands: The Resistance (15/06/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
To all Borderlands patrol members,

An escort is required this Sunday for a mission of the greatest importance. Any patrol member available for this duty should
contact me in the strictest confidence for further details.

Guard Captain Torell
Aide to Knight Marshal Keller

*Information provided by Guard Captain Torell on Sunday's mission*

The Barony has been contacted by a group of people calling themselves the Resistance and claiming to have information that
could lead to the destruction of the Borderlands.

An escort is required to accompany one of Knight Marshal Keller's staff to speak with these people. Attempts to prevent
this meeting by 'ethereal guards' are likely. Further information will be provided on the day.

Debrief:
To the Borderlands patrol who accompanied me to meet the Resistance contact,

Congratulations on a successful mission. With your assistance I was able to get the informatin we needed from the Resistance
which has enabled the Knight Marshal's staff to prepare. It seems probable that you will be recruited at a later date to
assist further in the destruction of the Borderlands effect, using the information we have gained. Furthermore, Major
Darius's staff have now been informed of the actual situation in the Borderlands and, though it is still advisable to pass
information directly to myself or another of the Knight Marshal's staff, it can be given to Darius if necessary.

Many thanks,

Pathfinder Captain Randall

Borderlands: The Dark-Blade Traitor (08/06/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Marshal Gideon of the Temple of Justice cordially requests the assistance of barony patrol members and affiliates to conduct
a most important mission for Justice.

A few days ago, a note was delivered to our temple by a known criminal and Dark-Blade member by the name of Sollis. He wishes
to make reparations for his evil deeds apparently, and wishes to turn himself in, but first he wants to give the Barony a
chance to capture his superior, who has committed more atrocities than we could possibly imagine, or so his note read. He
neglected to mention the name of his superior, but if he has rank in the Dark-Blades he must be captured at all costs.

We have considered the possibility that this could be a trap, but given the knowledge we have of how the Dark-Blades operate,
we doubt this is such, as no specific person was asked to meet him, just representatives of the Barony. Nevertheless, this
mission will be very risky, and so anyone accepting it will have to understand the dangers and be willing to take such risks
to bring such a criminal to justice.

After the capture of his superior, Sollis promises to return with the patrol by his own accord to await trail, with leniency
given for his help in capturing his Superior. If he should change his mind, he must be brought to justice nonetheless.

Yours,

Marshal Gideon
Temple of Justice

Debrief:
On request of the Temple of Might the dark-blade known as Sollis has been Resurrected and awaits trial for his crimes.
Information of the outcome of his trial will be available to any who express an interest. The escape of his superior is most
disappointing, although many members of the patrol have given us a good description of him, and patrols have been sent to try
and track him down. Unfortunately none have been successful so far. The Priest named Trantis and Druid called Rawl'ra have
both been resurrected, but attempts to bring the College General Mage Torrent back to life have so far failed, much to the
bafflement of the Master Healers. The Temple of Justice wishes to apologize to all patrol members on how the briefing for
this mission was dealt with, and thank you all for your help despite the difficulty of the mission. Also, Giddeon, previously
a Marshal for the temple of Justice is undergoing investigation for possible connections with the Dark-Blades, although it
is not thought he himself is a direct member of the organization.

1) Given that it was a lot more of a dangerous larp than I meant it to be, people faired very well! Had to change quite a lot
about the big bad and get him to escape for benefit of TonyP's personal plot, so I'm sorry that people didn't get to oust the
bad guy... Pity there was no main healer, or things would have been a lot easier...

2) Wanted to give just about everyone bonus points for something or other, but had to restrict myself... It was very hard to

3) Yay for my first larp! With any luck, my next one will be more balanced and not so dangerous to characters... ;-)

Borderlands: Orchid By Any Other Name (11/05/2003)

Brief:
Calling All Patrollers with Borderlands Experience.

It has come to our attention that there is a gang of kidnappers in the Borderlands. They are currently holding Ranger Orchid
hostage. They have sent us a message in the form of one of their gang members. According to the message, if we wish to see
Ranger Orchid alive again, we are to go to a pre-arranged meeting place in the Borderlands on Sunday with an appropriate
ransom. Since the Borderlands is a dangerous area, we would like to send a patrol in to make the exchange and bring Ranger
Orchid back safely. Unfortunately, the gang member who was sent to us died almost immediately after giving us the message.
Attempts to resurrect him have failed, so we are unable to determine how strong the gang are. We know they have Ranger Orchid
as an item of his clothing (his gloves) were on the body of the messenger.

Please meet in the Market Square at 11:30 on Sunday, and you will be given the ransom and any further instructions necessary
there.

To Borderlands Patrollers,

The Guild of Artificers requests that a heavily armed patrol group report for a potentially critical mission into the edge of
the Borderlands. The expansion of the area affected by the borderlands effect has now enveloped the Cursed Tower of Vekk. The
Tower had impenatrible magical defenses, but the Guild wishes to investigate whether this is still the case.

Please do any research you feel necessary to prepare for this journey and report on sunday to my camp on the edge of the
Borderlands.

Craftsman Yang is pleased with the recovered scroll, and wishes he'd been able to examine the 'sweets' that Biscuit consumed,

and no longer requests a chance to look at the book.

He was taken to the temple of justice and after considering the circumstances the following punishment has been decided:

"For the next few months he is confined to his home village and may not go out on patrol again until he has joined a suitable
organisation and proven that he is capable of handling himself. He is being returned to his parents for any further
punishment but considering what he suffered in recovering from his addiction we feel no further punishment is recovered."

With regards to the book. After some research we found the book was not capable of either causing the addiction or summoning
demons of the power Paladin Flash described. This did not correlate with the fact the boy had no talents in demonology of his
own. Study into the books nature has discovered that it contains the spirit of a demonologist and the the book is more potent
when in the borderlands. Considering the malicious nature of the spirit in the book it will be destroyed in due course and
the spirit exorcised, pending confirmation from the Temple of Order.

this year.

Borderlands: Anarchy (13/04/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
They've taken their time over it, but it seems that the forces of Anarchy have entered the Borderlands in sizeable numbers-
they've declared it a holy place for them. It is an ideal staging point for whatever plans- or whims, they have.
The last thing we need is a Temple of Anarchy forming on our doorstep, especially when we have no fortifications on that
front and any we build would collapse if it expanded again. Imagine what would happen if it expanded to the point where
they could just walk into the Baron's chambers...
Go in and assess if the Anarchy followers have united, to what extent, and do what you can to undermine it.

(After party initially set off, a messenger arrives)

A rich merchant's son and his entourage went hunting yesterday. Apparantly, he thought the fauna of the Borderlands would
make an interesting hunt- and he hasn't returned...

Debrief:
Since your claims of being gone for a handful of hours have been corroborated by Farrier's son and his entourage, we accept
your words and we will try to investigate the matter further.

Farrier expresses his thanks for finding his son's entourage- although he also expressed views on the nature of his son and
how little it would have mattered if you'd have left him behind. We of course could not condone such action, but do
understand his viewpoint.

We hope you have dealt a crippling blow to the Anarchists- certainly from your descriptions upon returning, they were
cooperating on a scale seldom seen. A message from the Temple of Balance explains this in part. Alastair and Heironymous
were cast out of the Temple some years ago for their viewpoints on how the Balance should be maintained, and it is likely
that it is them who gathered the Anarchists to the area and managed to quell the hostility amongst them that usually dooms
such ventures. We cannot prove this however, and even though they are no longer Guardians, they are Barony members and so
should be brought back for investigation and trial under current circumstances.

Thanks everyone for risking playing or monstering a larp by Granny 'I don't like TL' Gertrude. Lets face it, I have not
had a huge amount of experience with the system. Hence, I consider the fact that I wasn't beaten to death at the end as being
A Good Sign that most people enjoyed themselves. There were a few slip ups, (the encounter list I gave to DominicD was fairly
useless, not even including where the encounters were) but otherwise... Similarly, originally bonus points were strewn around
like candy, until I looked back over it and thought 'I shouldn't cheapen them, especially considering that I've been present
for only 3 full larps previously'.

Borderlands: The Magic Box (06/04/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Greetings Patrol,

Unfortunately I regret to say that one of our order priests is missing. Judge Reclic went out with a Pathfinder patrol, to
investigate the chaotic effect of the borderlands and alas hasn't returned. Only the leader in charge of the mission has
returned, a certain Pathfinder Captain Hazel. She reports that her patrol were attacked on all fronts by undead and were
scattered. Your mission is to venture into the borderlands and find Reclic at all costs, Hazel will guide you back to the
ambush site.

Judge Raques of The Temple of Order

Debrief:
Thank you for returning Judge Reclic to us, we are pleased to say that we have managed to return his sight to him. How he
lost it remains somewhat of a mystery, we believe it must have been an innate effect of one of the undead who attacked him.
Also thank you for retrieving the sword for us, we are pleased to report, after some study, we believe it is one of the
original swords given to each of the Temples when the barony was founded. You may of heard the stories of the holy sword
Benedictus which was originally held by the Temple of Life. Well, the sword you retrieved belonged to the Temple of Order,
but was lost during the orcish invasions. It is known as Erevain, and we are grateful for its return, however we are at a
loss as to how it ended up in the borderlands.
As for the box which contained it, it is a powerfull chaotic artifact which can open a portal to the demon plane. We will
be studying it with great care, and may be calling on your assistance again if necessary.

Judge Lectus (16/03/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Greetings Patrol,

Rumours of a Demonologist in the area have been coming to me for some time, up until now I have had no firm leads, however,
a contact has come forward with promises of names and locations.

Unfortunately, my contact refuses to enter into the Temple of Order's protection within the Barony, so, a meeting has been
arranged beyond the Barony's borders, at a place nearing the Borderlands.

To this end I come to you all to request an escort. Although we should not be entering withing the "borders" of the
Borderlands, assistance from the regular Borderlands patrol will be appreciated. A deviation on our path may be neccesary,
and I do not wish to become stranded in the Borderlands drained of all my power. Hopefully, the regular patrol members will
be adequate insurance against such an eventuality. I do not expect any trouble, but there are goblins in the area we will be
moving through, so please come prepared.

Judge Lectus of The Temple of Order

Debrief:

important to the Temple of Order]

On behalf of Judge Lectus The Temple of Order would like to thank you for your assistance on the mission/patrol/exploration

2.1

All magical activities within the scope of the mission (other than your own) have been attributed to items enchanted with
magical energies of a demonic nature and the demons summoned forth from these items. The duration of these magics are
assumed to have expired [1], however, the proximity to the Borderlands cannot be accounted for [2]. There may be further
items in the possession of unknown individuals, if items such as these are found we suggest they are immediately brought to
the Temple of Order for appropriate disposal [3].

[1] The Temple of Orders follow up mission discovered no evidence of Demons
[2] The Borderlands are an unknown factor and the Temple of Order cannot be held responsible for their effects
[3] Under section 64 subsection 6 the Barony waste disposal act states "All items associated with Demons and/or Demonology
are to be disposed of by a Demon and/or Demonology item disposer license holder within the Temple of Order"

2.2

The Demon that introduced itself as Angelus is known to us. It has been know to oppose the aims of non-light Demons and
Demonologist. However, as a Demon, it's nature is still highly chaotic and we suggest Angelus is to be avoided, or detained
and the appropriate authorities contacted [4]. Despite its apparent self sacrifice, this creature is not to be trusted. As
a Demon it is the embodiment of Chaos and will eventually cause the ultimate downfall of Order, and hence the Barony.

[4] Under section 72 subsection 3 the Barony Demon control act states "In all matters pertaining to Demons and/or
Demonologists the Temple of Order has authority"

2.3

Now proceed to section 5

3.1

The individuals encountered are reported to be followers of Chaos [5]. If a specific deity is revered it is unknown,
however, it is not uncommon for followers of Chaos to simply revere Chaos itself or to simply be unaware from where their
power stems.

[5] Through Miraculous detection, examination of the expended items and reports from Judge Lectus

3.2

None of the items retrieved maintain any Miraculous properties. The items found were either items with a limited number of
charges or simply were limited by duration [6]

[6] From examination of the weapons retrieved degradation that is conducive with exposure to Chaotic miracles has been
observed

3.3

The Demon that introduced itself as Angelus is known to us. It has been know to oppose the aims of non-light Demons and
Demonologist. However, as a Demon, it's nature is still highly chaotic and we suggest Angelus is to be avoided, or detained
and the appropriate authorities contacted [4]. Despite its apparent self sacrifice, this creature is not to be trusted. As a

[4] Under section 72 subsection 3 the Barony Demon control act states "In all matters pertaining to Demons and/or
Demonologists the Temple of Order has authority"

3.4

Now proceed to section 5

4.1

The Goblins and Hobgoblin encountered have been confirmed to be in the possession of Badger pelts. Upon further
investigation a number of Badgers have been found in fighting pits. It seems these goblins have been training by fighting
badgers. We do not believe that these "Badger Goblins" are of much threat, there were a great number of Goblin corpses
found in the fighting pits and, even with their superior training, goblins are never a real threat. It also seems that the
Demons killed a number of the goblins and many of the rest were dealt with by the party. However, due to goblin breeding
patterns their tribe will no doubt be at full strength in a short length of time.

4.2

The scouts encountered by the party were highly trained and dedicated assassins. Equipped with weaponry to deal with highly
armoured targets. We have confirmed the claims of Secrutus that these assassins cannot be Resurrected, though if this is
indeed due to repeated suicide and resurrection cannot be verified.

4.3

The Demon that introduced itself as Angelus is known to us. It has been know to oppose the aims of non-light Demons and
Demonologist. However, as a Demon, it's nature is still highly chaotic and we suggest Angelus is to be avoided, or
detained and the appropriate authorities contacted [4]. Despite its apparent self sacrifice, this creature is not to be
trusted. As a Demon it is the embodiment of Chaos and will eventually cause the ultimate downfall of Order, and hence the
Barony.

[4] Under section 72 subsection 3 the Barony Demon control act states "In all matters pertaining to Demons and/or
Demonologists the Temple of Order has authority"

4.4

Now proceed to section 5

5.1

The Temple of Order suggest exercising caution when dealing with the individual know as Secretus. Initial contact seems
positive, however, his origins are unknown and his unsanctioned use of high level Order Miracles is a concern.

5.2

The rumors of Demonology in the area are unfounded and were simply means to Judge Lectus' entrapment. The individual
Melkor initiated and propagated these rumors and since his demise no further word of Demons have been reported.

5.3

There is no evidence of the Demon Testicalese. To exclaim its name for all to hear this demon must have little fear of
control or containment. This we believe suggests that it is of great power, or, simply is using a false name.

Yours in Order Judge Neilton

DominicD [Aurinyan] 11
- We need to get Aurinyan in the dark some time, at the moment he's just too powerful, 8 power 8 armor on a rank 10 mage is

LukeG [Mr Lame] 11

1) A big thank you to all the player and the monsters for making my first LARP (reasonably) easy. Yes, there was a little
interparty conflict (of interests, no direct violence) but, in the end, I hope that only added to the interparty roleplaying,
which is a good thing...

2) I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as you all said, and general apologies for the number of things I had to come up with
"on the fly". You did the perfectly sane thing of running away from the final demon, not much good for my plot, but it was
good for you IC (as far as you knew...). I did want to explain the intricacies of my plot, because I think that not
everything I tried to get across was clear, but if you missed it, you missed it, I guess.

3) Finally I would just like to say, sod Guards! Everyone should play mages and priests. A party of 5/7 mages, a priest and
a scout and they were doing more damage and in more protection than any, equivalent level, group of fighters I have ever
seen!

4) Anyway, here are the points, I want to continue AlexT and CarinaS trend of not giving bonuses lightly so please don't feel
bad if you didn't get one. I would have given out more (any!) to the players but most of the really impressive stuff was a
combination of a number of characters working together, rather than one exceptional character...

Borderlands: Ethereal Guards (09/03/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
To Borderlands patrol group 1,

Following your missionable to sectors 15 -18, we have sents scouts to the area in order to confirmify the limited
informatisation in your reportations. They have reportisated a decrease in the number of 'ethereal guards' in the area but a
massitative increase in the number of the undead. We have informatised the humacti of the situation. Your objectivication is
to reinvestavigate the area to gather more informitisation specifically on the drop in numbers of 'ethereal guards' in the
area and to help rout the undead. This time we need full reportisations on everything you encounter to allow our research
group to fabricate some useful answers and end the propogandical debates by the various institutions in the barony.

Be advised there appears to be an unassertificated number of goblins beginning to settle in the area, we are not in a
position to assumify their disspositation to other races, be alert.

Major Darius
Borderlands Commander

Debrief:
[The man captured in the Borderlands is led by the Humacti further and further into the Barony. His best attempts at
persuading the Humacti to release him have failed, and he is now being dragged to stand before a Major in the Barony Guards.
The Humacti approaches Major Darius' door, knocks and goes in.]

Major, this is an outrage. I have been attacked and held against my will by one of your parties. One second, Major /Darius/
was it? [A wry grin spreads across his face] *pauses* Yes, Major Darius, I was undertaking the mission you sent me out on,
however, I became cornered by undead and armed with only a sword could not fight my way out. Fortunately, another patrol
ventured onto my position and were able to assist me with the undead menace. I then decided it would be prudent to carry on
your incredibly important mission so I continued. Unfortunately, I soon became cornered by undead again, only to once again
be saved by the party. However, at this time, one of the party drained all of my strength from me, and they proceeded to tie
me up. They would not listen to anything I had to say, insisting that I was a Necromancer. This, as I'm sure you realize,
Sir, is absurd! In any case, I have been forcibly dragged back here, and, as such could not complete my mission.
[Contemplates how far to push it] Of course I would be happy to assist you in the future, I only ask that I be given a
warrant, or other official sanction, to allow me to continue my, no, sir, /your/ good work in the Borderlands. With all due
respect, sir, I believe the party in question needs some lessons in diplomacy, sir. Of course, sir, I expect you already have
a suitable reprimand in mind.

Thank you, sir. I trust I can receive my Borderlands Warrant from your secretary?

[At which point the man respectfully bows and walks out the door...]

To Borderlands patrol group 1,

Major Darius congratulates you on a successful mission. Our scouts and the Humacti say that you were extremely helpful in
destroying a large proportion of the undead that were plaguing the area. However, it seems you have still discovered little
on the nature of these 'ethereal guards' or the spheres. The Major's research group is in urgent need of such information.
Furthermore, we are still awaiting reports from certain members of the party. Can these be completed as soon as possible?
Lastly, Major Darius was less than impressed at your unjust detainment of the man, Ledicus, whom it seems you decided was a
Necromancer when he was, in fact, on a mission for the Major. In future, he expects you to be more cautious in arresting
people merely because they are not of your party.

Deeply Hollow (23/02/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
We have received disturbing reports from Marshal Jordan, Headman of the village of Deeply Hollow. A dark force of evil has
arisen in the area and several headless corpses of villagers have been found. A black-clad man was seen leaving the area of
the last murder at great speed astride a horse as black as night. According to an eyewitness, the man on the horse had no
head.

Marshal Jordan, who retired to the troubled community some years ago, said that although Deeply Hollow has always been a
trouble spot, nothing of this magnitude had ever threatened that village in all the years of his service as headman.

The Baron is taking this threat within his own borders very seriously. Experienced patrol members are required to travel to
Deeply Hollow and to solve the mystery of the headless horseman.

Debrief:
Thanks and gratitude are extended twice over to the champions of Deeply Hollow!

It would seem that we're not giving you enough work to do, for while solving the mystery of the Headless Horseman you also
took the time to eliminate an entire orcish incursion, which would have otherwise made life here very difficult for us! You
are to be commended for your initiative and quick response to this unforeseen crisis.

The tribe you routed, known as the Rusty Sword clan, had always been a strong force on the border, but we were unaware that
they had grown to such strength as to dare an actual invasion into the Barony. They had even started constructing a new
settlement and it was only your bravery that drove the orcs off before they could become too entrenched.

The Humacti Temple has admitted that it was an oversight on their part in sending only one of their number, regardless of his
experience, to investigate Deeply Hollow. They take full responsibility for Humact Quentin's death and are grateful for your
efforts to save his life.

They also emphatically confirm that Ichabod Crane was never a member of the Humacti Temple, and can only conclude that his
entire impersonation was an elaborate deceit.

It has also emerged that a human by the name of Ichabod Crane enrolled in the General College of Magery some nineteen years
ago, where he excelled at both magical dispelling and concealment. In light of these revelations the Humacti Temple concludes
that the necromancer Crane could well have imitated the ability to destroy undead. They would like to reassure the party that
even another Humact would have found it difficult to see through his deception.

As for Deeply Hollow itself, Headman Jordan asked me to convey his most grateful thanks, as the villagers are now safe again.
Well, as safe as Deeply Hollow ever gets Marshal Jordan suspects that High Master Superior Brutus is also appreciative for
your efforts in clearing his name - not that he says so in so many words, of course.

All in all, you are owed congratulations on a job well and competently done.

Guard Captain Matthews

It seems despite my best efforts I have managed to incur a debt to your party, as you did restore me to life after my
conflict with the undead. Rather than having that hang over me, I have decided the best way to settle the debt is to
enlighten you about the probable motives of the necromancers Crane.

You may have managed to pick up that I came to Deeply Hollow around 23 years ago. Some three years later, it was necessary
to defend my village from the assault of a necromancer called Crane. He sought eight human sacrifices for his foul if well
contrived ritual of Living Death. I and my servant Oculus met the fool in Deeply Hollow's graveyard, where I wrested control
of most of his undead horde from him, and had them crush the rest. I then pounded Crane himself into the floor, but rather
than kill him, I strung him up for eternal life as a scarecrow. I studied him in the field for three days to see if he
accomplished any interesting necromantic feats, but he merely expired and sagged a bit.

I presume Ichabod Crane was his son, who clearly wasted his pathetic life contriving revenge upon me. He duped your party
into accepting him so he could steer an inquiry against me, while using his Horseman to simultaneously make the needed
sacrifices, and attempt a clumsy frame against me. Such a feeble plan fell apart as might be expected.

I wish I could have crushed him myself, but I was busy engaging the far more competent nemesis he sent against me. I
consider my debt to you now cleared, and most of you should not return to my estates except under the direst of circumstances.
High Masters Talon and Vortex could consider risking it, were they ever to feel worthy of trying to earn my instruction.

In Might,
High Master Superior Brutus, of Deeply Hollow.

- (+1) Usefulness and roleplay.
Your creative and timely use of Dispels (especially while G'Mord was fighting the orc chieftain) broke new ground,
particularly in the use of furtive rituals. The story to the village kids was as entertaining as it was inspired! The
Shrivel(T) on Ichabod really helped the party out at a crucial moment! Great thinking!

IanH [Hunter] 14
- Worked well as an information-gathering scout. Very good use of your Druidic abilities to survive the curiosity that
would have killed your average cat (jumping in amongst the orc reserves).

JamesA [Hawkeye] 14
- You demonstrated the main strength of a high level elven scout, a huge amount of dexterity, and used it well in battle.
Thank you for your "path-finding" at the start of the mission, safely guiding the party into Rainbow Woods, aka the
  Borderlands.

MarcusO [G'Mord] 16
- (+2) Roleplay and fight against the orc chieftain.
We expect a certain high standard from the Old Guard, but in this game you truly went above and beyond the call of
duty! Your fight with the orc chieftain was undoubtedly a high point of the LARP, and your roleplay within the village was
  deeply entertaining, if somewhat disturbing...

MikeT [Kendal] 14

NeilH [Talon] 14

PeterW [Aurelius] 14

You incapacitate them!) and amusing use of Gale to tie the centipede into knots.

RyanL [Vortex] 14
- Thank you so much for the "Heroic pose" during your introduction! We liked lots. Vortex was as ever the dangerous
psychopath killer, who also really got into the Deeply Hollow "vibe". Sorry the Horseman couldn't stay to chat!

TonyC [Caffrey] 14
- At least one person who responded to the plot! Along with Mathonwy, upheld the cause of Justice in Deeply Hollow. It
was great to see Caffrey in action again, especially healing his bestest best friend, G'Mord and dealing smoothly with
the possessing ghosts. Old Guard and newbies alike were very glad to see you!

WarrenJ [Mathonwy] 14

Borderlands: The Draining Sphere (16/02/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
To all Members of Borderland Patrol Group 1, Currently assigned to Sectors 6-9, from Major Darius - Borderlands Commander

Hello All

This sunday we are changing you from your regular patrol sectors to those normally patrolled by Group 4 (Sectors 15-18).

We are making this change as the patrol group normally assigned to that area has begun to encounter several shimmering guards,
the like of which you have also been encountering. As your patrol group has the most experience with them we are sending you
out to investigate in Group 4's Place.

Please report all findings to me and meet in the village of Stittlehampton for your final briefing at 11:30 this Sunday. You
will here from again if I need to make more changes or if we have some new confirmed information.

Major Darius
Borderlands Commander

Debrief:
To all Bordeland patrollies recently aquisitioned to patrol patrol sectors 15 -18.

First where are your reports. This was suposed to be an investigation of the area and yet of the 12 or so of you who went out
only three of you have obeyed your orders and written a report. Even then in at least one case I had to request the report
from the pathfinders. If I don't get reports in by next wednesday there will be a jusdicial investigation into your failure.

Secondly, where are the Barbarian and the Mage. They were supposed to retuen with you. Its been four days and no one has seen
any sign of them. We are beginning to get suspicious.

Lastly on a organisational note your standard patrol route has been extended to include sectors 10 and 11. Sectors 15-18 are
now being assigned to two patrols route considering the amount of hostiles in the area.

Major Darius
Borderlands Commander

Firstly well done for successfully completifying the patrol without any loss of life. It was an excellent achievement
especially considering how dangerous the area was.

There is still no sign of the barbarian or the mage and so we can only assumify that they have been killed by the
varitious creatures roaming the borderlands. In future more effort should be taken to keep hold of those people that you are
sent to rescue.

From your reportations on the borderlands up to this point the following informitisation has been found:

1)Contact with the spheroids is directly linked to your ability to see these shimerating 'ethereal' guards.
2)The spheroids replicatify both magical and miraculous propertises and either take power or give it.
3)There is a dead world which appears to be where the 'ethereal' guards come from.
4)The 'ethereal' guards attack mercilessly and are not open to negotiations.
5)There is an unassertifacated large number of these guards who are located throughout the borderlands and even outside in
the dead world.
6)No reason has yet been discovered for the presence of the spheroids, the borderland effects, or the guards.

Conclusion: More information is needed.

1) Thanks for a very good larp in general, and thanks for coping well with having your character made almost completely
useless for large part of it if you were a magic user. I'd just like to apologise for the couple of flanges, im still
learning how to GM and for some of the actions of my monsters. In future i'll try and be clearer when giving instructions and
avoid the same mistakes. Im also sorry about the number of time fafs i went for a deliberately high density larp and the
encounters designed to stall the party didn't work out as i had hoped.

2) To the monsters thanks for monstering but I need to raise a couple of points. The ones with regards to hitting and uses
of strength have already been covered, but I do want to emphasise the points that I had said before. Act how a GM
tells you act is the main thing and if it seems like an encounter has been statted to high eg doing too much damage
question the GM. To illustrate ideally you would have been very very aggressive goblins as I had asked. The party would have
automatically realised you were going to attack and therefore got in to some formation, instead you weren't aggressive the
party thought they had been a misunderstanding and even tried to stop people attacking you hence creating problems (which
only got worse because of what TimB did but he has realised his mistake so thats fair enough). The knock on effects were the
party met the barbarian and the drain mana sphere earlier than intended and therefore had less time when they could actually
cast rituals etc. But anyway its in the past now and irrelevant just be more careful next time, ok?

Borderlands: Guild of Artifacers II (09/02/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
To all borderlands patrollers

The Guild of Artificers would like to employ your services once more. It is likely to be a dangerous courier mission into
the borderlands and back again, near the town of Carefree.

Apparently, pathfinders and other patrols report that the 'rat' problem is still there. So, come this Sunday, be prepared
for them and the normal borderlands problems.

Master Craftsman Leafson
Head of the Guild of Artifacers

Debrief:
Note to Pathfinder Orchid,

The Master Craftsman informs me that the miraclous item you were able to use was a 'glove of resurrection' he had specially
made for such a situation. It was ritually created to be able to be used as soon as it was worn. Even as we speak I'm
filling out a request form to purchase a few of these items for the pathfinders. You have given the item an unscheduled
field test and the guild is please with you.

However it comes to our attention that you have a lot to learn about leading groups of pathfinders, even if you are the most
experienced pathfinder, it is unlikely at this time that you will the oldest. It is important for a leader not to make his
followers resentful of him. In future missions you might wish to try to be more diplomatic about giving orders and taking
advice with regards to other pathfinders.

Then I'll have words with your mother about her grounding you and how pleased the guild is with your performance to date.

1) We've had our first ban. Anyone who wants to talk to the committee and why should find DominicD or LukeG who were there.
We also had one of the biggest parties of the year. 17 players total(!) and twelve monsters. If we can keep up
this sort of attendance, we'll have bigger and better LARPs!

2) However it brought up a serious problem of battleboarding this many. Next time a party of this magnetude, I'd suggest
two or three battleboarders instead of 1, sorry StephenE. Also, I strongly suggest that people use the time that they
aren't being battle boarding, checking weapons and armour for wear and tear. Safety has to come first.

Borderlands: The Ruins (05/02/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
To all borderland patrollies.

An important discovery has been recently made. A large set of ruins has been discovered on the edge of the borderland. We
believe they were unearthed by the disturbances that preceeded the borderlands effects.

The few scout reports we have seem to indicate strange structures unlike anything seen in the Barony and a strange feeling
of a multitude of invisible presences.

We need a well experienced patrol to investigate the area and find the few pathfinders who have failed to return.

Debrief:
To all those that investigated the ruins, the following information has been obtained from the ritual notes that you brought us:

1)The two smaller rituals dealt with the spontaneous summoning of undead at great range and the summoning of a couple of
fairly minor demons.
2)The larger ritual while both lengthy and complicated appears to effect the release of a powerful spirit. Interestingly
the ritual is written in both death and chaos runes as well as necromantic and demonic script. From what we can ascertain
from the information in the rituals chants the spirit may have once been demonic in nature and is incredably powerful.

We suggest that no one is allowed access to the ruins until a way has been found to stop the spirit or prevent is ever being
released. We are passing the information on to the guards and pathfinders in return for earlier favours so that they may
decide the best way to guard the area. We are providing the same information to patrol as you gave us the rituals.

Forever in balance.

Borderlands: Double Vision (02/02/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
You are standing in the square when you hear the sound of someone angrily stomping towards the middle of the square. You
turn around and recognise Guard Sergeant Thorfen Skullsplitter as he stomps along. When he reaches the middle, he stops,
puts a notice on the notice board, and then shouts.

"All you Borderlands Patrol Members, listen up. There will be extra combat training for you this Sunday. You need it. You
will turn up. So far you have demonstrated a lack of expertise in this area. This WILL be remedied. I expect as many of you
as possible to be there."

With that, he stomps off again. The notice contains details of where and when to report for the extra training.

Debrief:
"To those members of the Barony who got the Druid Wolfgang - Many thanks for your efforts. I look forward to a time when I
can serve alongside you, although I have no intentions of going into the Borderlands unless I really have to. Wolfgang is
currently in custody of the guards, and we are gathering evidence so that we can put him on trial. As such, any further
reports of the mission would be gratefully accepted as evidence. For those of you who turned up specially for the combat
training, we would be more than happy to arrange some for you at a future date.

The Druid Rowan and his wife have asked me to pass on their grateful thanks to Marshal Liana and the rest of the patrol for
aiding their daughter. It was unfortunate that Seeker Gish died and I would urge all of you very strongly to make sure that
you look after each other on future missions. Death can be avoided as long as you all work together as a group.

Now, I leave once again for Draxia. Good Luck with your further investigations into the Borderlands.

To Marshal Liana Only

the Pathfinders you met were indeed Pathfinder Captains. I am not privy as to exactly what they were doing in the Borderlands,
but I have been informed of their return and that they saw you just before they returned. Also, fear not. The security in
Draxia has not been compromised. I remember seeing Wolfgang on my return there a few weeks ago when I came to collect
supplies. It appears he was a lot more powerful then, and was able to store my likeness in his mirror for quite some time."

You are a member of the army of the kingdom remember.

- (+1) (would have got an extra point for cloak but you said to give it to Shevek!!). Brilliant reaction when faced with
opposite self, and also when Interfector killed opposite self.
(+2) For the report. I don't think I've ever seen a report that has made people shed tears before! It was great.
Try and avoid trying to kill party members if at all possible, although I admit that interfector killing your friend-clone

DavidS [Adept] 10

Do your characters always take scouting roles? :-)

JohnB [Breeze] 10

As DominicD said before, try and avoid interparty fighting wherever possible, although I admit that the occasion that I saw

1) A BIG thankyou to everyone. That was great. It was also good to see so many people turn up - a whopping 25 people took
part in that Larp!! The costumes were good, and the fighting was safe. What more could a GM ask for? :-) Now, to get hold
of the monster rules to write my next one... :-)

Borderlands: Guild of Artifacers (26/01/2003)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
The Newly Established Guild of Artifacers invites all loyal barony borderlands patrols and their associates to view a
demonstration of magical and marvellous items by one of the guild members to be held this Sunday in the village of Carefree,
near the very edge of the borderlands.

Do not worry if you cannot make this demonstration, as the Guild is beginning to mass produce items and we hope that soon
you will all have a chance to purchase one or or more of these excellent devices.

Master Craftsman Leafson
Head of the Guild of Artifacers
"Excellence is our Trademark"

Debrief:
Members of the barony, and others present at the Borderlands,

The guild of Artifacers are gratful to all of you who journeyed into the borderlands to retrieve the stolen magic items. We
are, of course, sorry to hear that three of your number died, however the guild will happily organise the resurrecting of
the elf called Haven, The humans Torrent and Interfector. Once again, The Guild thanks you and will insure that the next
shipping of Artifacts to the borderlands is better guarded.

1) Excellent! Nice safe fighting. Happy monsters and a few player deaths. This was a dangerous larp and I fully expected a
few of you to die, unless the healing and fighting were well organised/managed. To survive the problems it is useful for a
party to gain a) a party leader to co-ordinate battles and fights b) a party healer.

Borderlands: Quest for the Holy Grotto (15/12/2002)

*** Mission ***

Debrief:
Congratulations on successfully delivering the Baron's letter to santa. We are pleased that the mission was completed
without any major injury coming to the party, though Master Interfector did seem a little different somehow.

We are slightly worried to hear of the existence of dissedent terrorist groups in the barony. However considering there
preoccupation for meals, fanatical devotion towards High Master Vortex and tendency towards suicidal activities we
do not expect to hear from them again. Whatever there name is you didn't seem to clear on that point...

Regardless, Montgomery Snake assures us you all performed excellently though cowardly (you seem to have run screaming from
a couple of minor encounters) and I hope you will be all able to deliver the Baron's next important letter.

TimB [Interfector] 13
- (+1) For roleplaying a very good pyschopath, definitely a priest of might at its worst, especially with the refusing to sing.
(+1) For the way you roleplayed being full of christmas both in the larp and on the boards. Seeing a priest of might
skipping is certainly a new experience.
(+1) For a nice report full of christmas cheer and gratuitous use of the word nice.
Good roleplaying in general. In future though try and alter characters to avoid interparty conflict, but well done for the
way you took the weaknesses. Also be much more careful about the way you deal with NPC's and make sure you know whos
side there on before you hit them. Hit one too many barony citizens and we may have to write an IC inquest and trial.

CarinaS [Blitzen (formerly Gale)] 13
- (+1) For singing silent night in german.
(+1) For the way you controlled the giant especially after my little stating error, nicely done and well thought out.
(+1) For very good roleplaying through out especially with the peoples front of the barony.

AdrianC [Orchid] 14
- (+1) For the way you berserked against the undead, very impressive, very cool especially when your the one its being

(+1) For trully excellent scouting. Always managing to turn up when we were in the middle of stating. For future
reference call rec. creature after you have had a chance to listen into our conversation. Certainly benefitted from the
  absense of Seyenne.
(+1) For generally very good roleplaying, especially around Santa. I was impressed throughout the whole larp very
consistent character and a very convincing 16 year old.
(+1) for a good IC report (and because I said all reports get a bonus point), always impressed with the way you make it
look like a 16 year old write it.

DanM [Torrent] 12
- (+1) For Arthur Dentishness. I like the idea of a research mage so academic that he comes out in his dressing gown and
slippers. Even if that wasn't the intention.
(+1) For your report, nicely written and informative. Didn't include even example of something that you did. Great at
making a silly mission sound serious.

ShaunG [Silvanus] 12
- (+1) For consistent druidic zealotry, though again try and alter characters to avoid in party fighting where possible.
Either way very good roleplaying. Oh and for the tinsel.
(+1) For your report. Nicely written, a few very clever comments and a garish colour scheme.

JohnB [Breeze] 11
- (+1) For very nice character progression after your recent death. Much more subdued and careful. Well thought out
roleplaying (would have got 1 more point if you wrote a report, if i say points for reports write them its worth it).

RobinD [Verin] 11
- (+2) For very annoyingly well timed use of weaknesses in both stopping my monsters and restraining interfector.
(-1) For over use of OOC knowledge and comments. Just be a bit more careful in future.
NB: Be very careful when casting weaknesses on party members. In general do your best to avoid it where possible so we

(+1) For successfully running away from the party with out them even noticing during the second encounter.
First thanks for offering to monster, really made the larp with the two characters mentioned above. Please monster all my larps.

MilenaP 46
- (+42) For offering to Monster with out being asked when half the people deicded they couldn't make it. Also because youre

(+1) For actually managing to hit someone with the inflatable sheep and on the head as well.
(+1) For your random christmas report as biscuit.

MarcusO 8
- (+1) For providing the blow up sheep and thinking of buying it in the first place.
(+2) For being the plot monkey. Very well done and did an excellent job of keeping the larp moving along. Nicley timed
giving of the correct answers as well.
(-1) For forgetting to sing "Brave, brave Sir [insert name here]". Should have been more mocking of the players.

And if only I could:

LukeG -1
- For not making it you could have tried harder especially when we needed big mace. Though then again we wouldn't have got
  to see AlexT's impression.

TonyP -1
- For not making it. Though having ElizabethG play you was probably punishment enough.

*** Comments ***

1) First thanks for all turning up and getting into the spirit of the thing. It was appreciated especially after the work I
put into writing it. If you didn't turn up shame on you especially if i had written you specific roles. If I could
give out minus points to those who weren't there.

2) In general the fighting was very safe and the standard of roleplaying was very good. Thanks for being willing to sing
when asked and putting up with the some of the more corny jokes.

Borderlands: The Harming Sphere (08/12/2002)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Healer Shen, of the Reverend Temple of Life leaves the following Message:

Will all Boarderlands patrol members report with their availibleness for this sunday? I wish to conduct experiments into
the draining effect.

Debrief:
Thank you for your reports. Firstly might I congratulate you on your efforts in the Borderlands since I was forced to
retreat back to the Barony. I a deeply sorry that Breeze fell in battle, however his sacrifice ultimately saved the rest of
the party and possibly even myself. I regret that my ritual led to this chain of events. Before I managed to complete the
ritual the force of this meteor impact threw me to my feet, breaking my concentration and prematurely ending the ritual
before I could complete it. This expended far more of my energy than I anticipated, and I found that I could no longer call
upon the Gods for healing. Following the second metoer impact I felt a flash of pain, which at the time I thought was
limited to only myself. Shortly thereafter it became apparent that all those in the ritual were facing this effect. I then
saw the fire in the forest and began to realize that the severe consequences of the disrupted ritual. I would have aided
you if i could, but without the ability to call upon the gods of healing for aid there was nothing I could do to aid you.
My bodyguard had been given very specific orders and she very forcibly insisted that I return to the barony.

It is unfortunate that the meteor collisions prevented us from carrying out our original mission and more tragically led to
Breezes death. However take heart, the mission was not in vain. Our encounter with these Avatars, together with the contact
that we have established with the druids you brought to my care, as well as your discoveries with regards to these meteors
may yet bring us closer to solving the mystery of these Borderlands.

Borderlands: Charlotte Black (17/11/2002)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Fellow patrol members,

I have sought and received permission from the Temple of Justice to lead a sortie into the Borderlands this Sunday.
I believe there are a number of you who already have some experience of the area, so I would appreciate it if some of
you would accompany me. With Cyfiawnder on our side, we shall get to the bottom of the situation out there, and return
the justice of the Barony to the Borderlands.

In Cyfiawnder's light,
Marshal Mathonwy ap Gwydion

Debrief:
Following Marshal Mathonwy's personal report on this mission I would like to commend you all for your good work
in apprehending such a dangerous criminal. Also, regarding the outlaw Priest of Balance, Lomax, it has been accepted
that the risk to the patrol was too great to risk an attempt at bringing him back to the Barony on this occasion
and so therefore there will be no repurcussions owing to your failure in this matter. As to the draining effects of
the Borderlands and the item that was obtained from Lomax, the issue is currently under investigation and any results
will be passed to those concerned when necessary.

I hope you all continue your good work in aiding the Barony in these difficult times.

AndyT [Feran] 7
- (+2) Still getting the feeling that your Priest of Balance isn't doing much, although that is a vaild option for this

  Appropriate IC report.

CarinaS [Sunny (formerly Donner)] 6

ElizabethG [Seyenne] 5

Paris$ [Finafin] 5

*** Comments ***

1) Thanks everyone for such a good game. Glad you all seemed to enjoyed playing and monstering something with real plot.
DavidS and I are already working on more heinous plans for the future. A few points we wanted to make. Firstly
regarding kit: If you're planning to monster plain black clothing is always better. Try not to wear jeans if
possible because they can get very wet. Also, try to wear shoes with a good grip as the path can be very slippery.
Secondly: Unless specifically told otherwise monsters should NOT hit downed or paralysed players. Thirdly
regarding scouting: Scouts are supposed to be there to let the party know what is ahead without alerting the monsters
IC. They are not there to let the monsters know that the party is on its way. Walking along the path 20 foot ahead of
the party is not a very effective way of scouting. Neither is loudly having a conversation as you 'scout' ahead. I'm
sure practice will make perfect.

Borderlands: The Healing Sphere (03/11/2002)

*** Mission ***

Brief:
Soon after the summer, tremors were felt all through the Barony. The ground and sky both shook, yet nothing was damaged.
Nothing fell from where it was put, no buildings collapsed, no-one fell to the floor. It was as if all shook as one, yet the
wisest could not explain this.

Reports came in that people everywhere were puzzled by the occurences. Soon, the rumours began. Wizards predicted new forms
of magic, priests declared anger from their gods, warriors spoke of huge beasts stirring in their slumber. With all the
rumours, what happened the following night almost seemed like an anticlimax. Soon after the sun had gone down, the night sky
was seen to be purple and a sudden wind whipped fiercely through, then...

Nothing.

However it was not long before tales of terror began. Outposts and those manning them along a large strip of the Barony's
borderlands had disappeared, along with a huge chunk of the lands outside. How and why was unknown, and as the stories would
have you believe, it was only the people and signs of their habitation that were gone- the land was unharmed. No signs of
great magic, gods warring, or mythical beasts arising.

Nothing has happened since. No more signs, portents, or shakes. Yet the Barony wants it investigated. It is an unknown
danger, enroaching on what little has been forged here. Groups are sent to investigate, some with goals of their own, some
with the best interests of their home at heart.

You are one of them. What you find is a no mans land. No building or shelter can be made as it tumbles down even as it is
erected. You would blame the Forces of Chaos, except they seem to be as dumbfounded as you...

As you explore with whatever help you can find, as all manner of dangers thrive, you wonder:

What is happening on the Borderlands?

Debrief:
Well done, on a successful mission. It is a shame you weren't able to keep hold of Humacti Soros who from the
sound of it was not entirely all there anymore. Good job defeating the necromancer and clearing you sector.

We have investigated without success the encounter where some of you fought an enemy that the others could not see.
On the evidence we advise you to be very careful in the region and to avoid spending prolonged periods with in it.
We are still no closer to determining the cause of the phenomenon...

out ("leave that object alone it's very dangerous but totally uninteresting"). Please monster again or better yet can we
  clone you.

- (+1) For the sheep dog, apparently it was very funny. Good monstering and i was impressed by the way you always made time
  for tea.

- Good monstering nice guards. Maybe could have been more involved, but no worries.

- Good monstering nothing exceptional though.

1) Well done on the first successful larp of the year. I have to apologise about a couple of teething problems (like
being sent the wrong way at the start). As for the difficulty of the monsters; they were made harder, but bear
in mind it was written with the newbies playing and the more experienced people monstering whereas we had the
opposite. I was especially impressed with the costumes and the way the ethereal guards were handled.

2) Congratulations to the newbies for coping with a complicated system well and thanks to MarcusO for making it work and
getting the monster masks.
